In der CW 12 war ein Bericht über Black Magic Music einem Bandlabel, welches den Wahnsinn zu ehren Satans verbreiten will, welcher natürlich kein anderer als Nyarlathothep ist.

Beim durchstöbern von Songtexten sind mir jetzt schon ein paar Texte aus dem Metal bereich besonders aufgefallen, in welche man einen Bezug zum Mythos interpretieren kann.

Dieser Thread dient dazu solche Texte zu sammeln und darüber zu diskutieren. ;)

Wobei Metallica sich ja öffentlich dazu bekennen,

dass sie 2 Songs über den Mythos geschrieben haben.

Also vermute ich einmal, dass sie nichts mit BMM zu tun haben. ;)

Spatter the stars

The light of ancient stars filters down from gulfs unimaginable. Encrypted glyphs flower in the depths, decoding in the hearts of the elect. What was written in the spaces behind the suns is mirrored in the waters of the earth and in the minds of the mad. The Goddess of Fifteen is caught upon the hook of the Lord of Thirteen, the seas are bent an mighty beasts are summoned. A new age is proclaimed, the Book of Leviathan is opened.

 

Es handelt sich hierbei um eine reine Instrumentalplatte, die zwar sehr hörenswert, für die Hintergrundbeschallung eines Abenteuers, das nichts mit dem Meer zu tun hat, aber nur sehr bedingt geeignet ist. Aber gerade im Metal-Bereich gibts ja unzählige Zitate, etc. - ich werd noch mal ein wenig in meiner Sammlung stöbern...

The priest goes into a detailed description of the unholy rite

That did cast the evil spell onto our main character.

 

A moonless sky, midnight was nigh

No sound did break the still

A strange mystique

Was fellt in all

A spirit that seemed

Wrong and ill

 

Suddenly the cold winds blew

And coyotes howled afar

A mighty thunder shattered the earth

The growl of grand GNAA

 

Whisp'ring voices could be heard

Utt'ring a foul spell

Man circled 'round a secret stone

And summoned greatest hell

 

Cold blades did light in darkness

And the high priestess

Started the unholy rite...

Blood was shed unto the stone

Rage haben ein Album über Cthulhu gemacht, allerdings ist die Musik mMn nicht allzu düster und die Texte wirken nicht so, als hätte sich die Band wirklich näher mit Cthulhu beschäftigt. Schade eigentlich, ich mag Rage eigentlich...

Nachdem sie ein ganzes Album dazu gemacht haben, dachte ich aber, dass sie in der Auflistung hier trotzdem nicht fehlen dürfen.

Carpathia mit dem Untertitel A Dramatic Poem ist ein Konzeptalbum und orientiert sich ebenfalls an Literatur Lovecrafts.

Es erzählt die Geschichte eines Geschäftsmannes, der in die Karpaten reist, um dort sein Erbe anzutreten.

Die Band sehe ich dieses Jahr eventuell auf dem Summerbreeze Festival. Mal sehen, wie die so sind. :)

Ich habe "The Vision Bleak" letzten Dezember als Vorgruppe von Therion in Memmingen gesehen. Dabei haben sie auch "Kutulu" gespielt. Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass mich der Refrain sehr an "Hakuna Matata" aus "König der Löwen" erinnert hat. Irgendwie konnte ich diesen abgehakten "Kultistengesang" nicht ernst nehmen.
